Bacillus Amyloliquefaciens

Bacillus amyloliquefaciens is a non-pathogenic soil bacterium. Similar to otherBacillus species, B. amyloquefaciens is capable of producing endospores allowing it to survive for extended periods of time.

The species also shows some antifungal properties, Bacillu samyloliquefaciens is a species of bacterium in the genus Bacillus that is the source of the BamHI restriction enzyme.

It is used in agriculture, aquaculture, and hydroponics to fight root pathogens such as Ralstonia solanacearum,Pythium Rhizoctonia solani Alternaria tenuissima and Fusarium as well improve root tolerance to salt stress.

Uses

Agriculture Uses:

B.amyloliquefaciensis considered a root-colonizing biocontrol bacterium, and is used to fight some plant root pathogens in agriculture, aquaculture, and hydroponics.

It has been shown to provide benefits to plants in both soil and hydroponic applications.

It takes action against bacterial and fungi pathogens, and may prevent infection though competitive exclusion or out-competing the unwanted pathogen.

It has been shown to be effective against several root pathogens that hurt agricultural yields in soil and hydroponics, such as Ralstonia solanacearum in tomatoes, Rhizoctonia solani in l ettuce,Pythium in tomatoes, Alternaria tenuissima in English ivy and Fusarium in bananas and cucumbers.

It also appears to improve root tolerance against abiotic stress, allowing plants such as maize to tolerate high salt concentrations in hydroponic applications, while also reducing salt concentrations in the plant tissue.

B.amyloliquefaciens GAI demonstrated that the strain possesses a huge potential for biocontrol and plant growth promotion.

Probiotic uses in Chickens & animals :

The effects of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens  probiotic as a direct-fed microbial on growth performance, cecal microflora, serum immunoglobulin levels, and fecal noxious gas emissions of broiler chickens.

Bacillus amyloliquefaciens is a potent Bacillus strain that have capacity to produce extracellular enzymes including cellulase, α-amylases, proteases and metalloproteases, which help to increase the efficiency of digestion and absorption of nutrients.

The present study demonstrated that the probiotic B. amyloliquefaciens showed positive effects on egg production, eggshell quality, intestinal microbial balance and excreta NH 3 contents in ISA brown laying hens.

Can improve the overall condition of the animals and help producers to improve quality of their products profitability of their business and solve sustainability challenges.

Dosage 60 mg/kg (1.5×108 cfu/kg)

Aquaculture

Probiotics can be used as immunostimulants in aquaculture.

Bacillus species are important candidates for developing commercial biological agents for nitrogen removal and water quality enhancement

B.amyloliquefaciens strain, isolated from the activated sludge, was also a very efficient nitrite-N cleaner, which was able to completely remove 10 mg l-1 of nitrite-N present in the simulated aquaculture water within 24 h.

Dosage : 109 CFU/g.
